I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" the American as the pair confronted each other to publicize the upcoming bout.

Ex twice world title holder Anthony Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Mindset

"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I will genuinely try to hurt him. That's my goal."

Respectful Interaction

In spite of those words, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Paul rather criticized ex Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

However, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning massive earnings.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and stated he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Paul declared.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional stare-down, with their physical disparity evident, it drove home just how surprising this complete situation is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
