Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
